Connie Lee Myers' Obituary
Connie "Lee" (McBroom) Myers, 74 passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Corydon Specialty Care in Corydon, Iowa. She was a loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
Lee was born on August 4, 1950, in Dexter, Iowa to Clovis Neil and Katherine "Loraine" (Donald) McBroom.She attended school in Centerville, for many years. She also attended two years of high school at Wayne Community, while she lived with her grandparents. She then went back to Centerville, graduating with the class of 1968.
On September 20, 1968, Lee was united in marriage to Tom Myers in Holden, MO. To this union they were blessed with their daughter Angie. They lived in MO for a few years before relocating to Corydon. In the fall of 1977, she settled into her home in Allerton, where she lived for almost 47 years. On May 11, 1980, she and Roger "Cheeco" Hildenbrand welcomed son, Tyler.
In her working years, she worked in many fields of service. She worked at the Allerton Sewing Factory, on road construction, and Neely's, where she worked for over 10 years. Most of her friends will remember her working as a bartender at Kelly's Place & Marion's Place where she met many great lifelong friends.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening, sewing, painting and was very artistic. Some thought she should have gone to art school. Lee loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandkids grow up. She was a woman of God whose faith was strong. Her heart was made of gold, and she shared her love by donating to many charities throughout her life.
People would often tell her children how she was the sweetest lady and had the biggest heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Terry O'Hair and Debbie O'Hair; grandson, Jordan Carpenter and great-granddaughter Dallas Rochholz
Lee is survived by her children, Angie (Doug) Carpenter, Tyler (Melissa) Hildenbrand; grandchildren, Tia McElvain (Justin Applegate), Shailey Carpenter (Devin Johnson), Aubrie Hildenbrand, Logan Hildenbrand; great grandchildren, Cash McElvain and Wright Applegate.
She always joked, that "I'm an only child, but I have 10 brothers and sisters.
Those survivors are James (Jeanie) McBroom from Eagleville, MO, Kim Daniels (Tommy) from Fleming Island, FL, Dee Dee McBroom from Williams, IA, Alice Frohling (Barry) from Spencer, IA, Randy O'Hair from Centerville, IA, Tim O'Hair from Quinlan, TX, as well as brother Randy Kelly from Newport News, VA and a sister Pam, whom she was never fortunate enough to meet, including many other extended family and friends.
A private burial will be at a later date. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring.
