Cluade "Pete" Lucas' Obituary
Claude Richard 'Pete' Lucas, fifth child of Lee and Helen (Plowman) Lucas died October 25, 2012 at the Wayne County Hospital of a massive heart attack. He was born September 4, 1938 in Taylor County near Siam, Iowa. In 1946 he moved with his family to a farm northwest of Sewal. He graduated from Sewal Consolidated School in 1957. His class was the last year of graduates at Sewal. He lived with his parents on their farm. He was a hard worker; doing field work and raising hogs and cattle. In their later years he took care of his parents. After their deaths in 2002 he moved to the Corydon Senior Housing in December 2010. He enjoyed his friends at Shelda's and Betty's Caf, as well as friends at the Senior Housing. He loved playing cards. Teasing his nieces and nephews was a lot of fun for him. Pete was the family statistician. If the family ever wanted to know about a certain event, they would ask him. Pete loved his dog, Meatball, and his three cats. Meatball was given to a neighbor and every other day he would drive to the farm to feed the cats. Eventually two of them disappeared and the third one was found dead. He would go to the farm anyway. Pete loved the farm. Preceding him in death were his parents, two aunts, five uncles and their spouses. He is survived by three sisters and three brothers and their families: Shirley Cobb and husband Richard, Alyce Lohr and husband Keith, Dona Kent and husband David, Donnie Lucas and wife Audrey, Harry Lucas and wife Janet and Max Lucas and wife Shirlene. Other survivors include 16 nieces and nephews and their families and an uncle, Harry Lucas, as well as many cousins and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed.
