Clifford Neil Morris' Obituary
Neil Morris, age 88 of Centerville died Monday morning, September 29, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center Long Term Care, Centerville, Iowa.
Clifford Neil Morris was born on October 13, 1925 in Kellogg, Iowa to Oliver Clifford Morris & Bonnie Juanita (Engle) Morris.
He graduated from 12th grade in 1942 from Centerville High School. In December 1943, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in World War II until April 1946. During his time in the Army, he served as a Motor Messenger in the European Front. Neil spent his 19th birthday waiting to cross the English Channel from England to Belgium.
On July 9, 1949 Neil married Wanda Adel Goodman at the First Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa. Wanda and Neil raised three boys on their farm outside of Centerville.
Neil owned and operated Morris Transfer since 1952 in Centerville. He was involved in the farming and trucking operation all his life. Until the last few years, he could be found feeding cattle, mowing hay, or running the bulldozer.
He was a member of the Centerville Boots and Saddle Club, Eagles Club, and the Numa American Legion. Neil enjoyed attending the county fair and supporting his grandkids in their 4-H projects. He enjoyed attending cattle auctions, having coffee with his friends at McDonalds, driving around the farm, and sharing stories with anyone who would listen.
Surviving are three sons, William Neil (Tracy) Morris, Centerville, IA, Timothy Alan (Jill) Morris, Centerville, IA , Bobby Brian Morris, Centerville, IA; six grandchildren, Brittney (Klark) Telleen, Monticello, IA , Beth Morris (Jerrett Wiltsie), Des Moines, IA , Hilary (Ben) Hogan, Monticello, IA , Katie Morris, Centerville, IA, Joe Morris, Centerville, IA , John Morris, Centerville, IA ; great grandson Cyrus Telleen, Monticello, IA; a sister, Dolly Scott, Davenport, IA ; sister in laws, Betty Brice Centerville, IA and Mary Goodman, Centerville, IA; brother in law, Jim Gerard, Centerville, IA
Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Adel (April 8, 1987); stillborn daughter, Jonalea (1950); stillborn son, (1955); parents, Oliver & Bonnie Juanita; Siblings, Mildred Ruscitto, Billy Victor Morris, Russell Morris, Richard Morris, Jackie Morris; Brother-in-laws, Joe Ruscitto, Bill Scott, Jack Goodman, Tony Gesualdo, Junior Cox, Martin Brice, Bill Goodman, Stanley Thomas, Earl Jackson; Sister-in-laws, Marie Shadden, Wanda Morris, Ruth Gerard, Mary Gesualdo, Maxine Cox, Jeri Jackson, LeAnne Thomas; In-Laws, John and Bessie Goodman.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, October 3, 2014 at Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, Centerville with Charlie Pittman officiating. Friends may call Thursday with the family present from 6-8 PM at Lange Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial has been established and may be left at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, northeast of Centerville. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
