Clarence Daniels' Obituary
Clarence "Dan" Newell Daniels, 93 of Unionville, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at his home.
Clarence was born to Thomas Clarence & Edna Marie (Walls) Daniels on April 7, 1930 in Centerville, Iowa. He received his education from Centerville High School, graduating in 1948. On March 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joyce Winans.
Clarence was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. During the war, he was a Machinist Mate 2nd class serving on the Destroyer, USS Tingey. He was honorably discharged. After serving in the Navy, he worked as an engineer at Bendix Corporation and Western Electric Company Inc. In 1975, Clarence and Joyce relocated to Moulton, Iowa where they owned and operated their own business, the Community Lumber and Supply in Moulton, Iowa.
He was a member of the Moulton Christian Church, where he served as an elder and board chairman.
Clarence was active and served as adjutant of the American Legion Post 280, Moulton, Iowa for 15 years.
Clarence designed, built and remodeled several homes for his family. He enjoyed working with his hands on projects around his home.
He also enjoyed mowing his lawn and pushing snow on his John Deere tractor. He loved attending potluck dinners after church services. Clarence was a skilled carpenter and could fix almost anything. He was very meticulous and organized with any projects that he took on.
Later in life he was also the coordinator for his Navy ship reunions, and he enjoyed attending these events in various cities around the country.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Joyce Daniels, Their children: Brad Daniels and his wife Kellie, Kelly Daniels, daughter in law, Carolyn Daniels, grandchildren: Garrison, Tatum, Bayley, Carson, Cooper and Shepard Daniels, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Barbara Winans, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Greg, infant daughter, parents, and five half-brothers.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Moulton Christian Church. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with family present from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
