Clara Naomi Brown, age 71, of Johnston, IA, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at her home in Johnston, IA. She was born the daughter of Chester N. and Evelyn B. (Jarvis) Engle on June 30, 1932 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Udell, IA and received two years of nursing training at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.She was united in marriage to John Brown in 1953 at Udell, Iowa. She had worked as a Nurse at the V. A. Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a member of the Dale Church in Centerville, IA.Clara is preceded in death by: her parents and her son, Steve Brown on April 29, 1992.Surviving family members include: her husband, John Brown of Johnston, IA; one son, Jeffrey Brown of Johnston, IA; two brothers, Delbert N. Engle of Centerville, IA and Chester Engle of Ottumwa, IA and two sisters, Fern Paris of Moravia, IA and Zelda Fletcher of Unionville, IA. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 1:00 pm at the Dale Cemetery north of Centerville, Iowa with Jack Engle officiating.
