Chuck Talbot, 83, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 17, 2010. He was born February 17, 1926 to Frank and Mary (Barrier) Talbot. He was a 1943 graduate of Centerville High and enlisted in the navy at age 17 where he served as a radio-man/gunner for three years with the Naval Air Corps. On July 3, 1947 he married Aneta Boshak of Centerville. They lived and raised their two children, Tom and Anne, in Centerville, IA. Along with his father and brothers, Chuck worked for their family business, Talbot Lumber, for 38 years. He continued this tradition by working with his son in the hardwood millwork industry in Wisconsin and Kentucky at Glen Oak Lumber, Montello, WI. Chuck was an active volunteer fire-fighter serving as Fire Chief for eight of his twenty-two years of service. He was an avid fan and tireless supporter of the Indian Hills baseball program where he generously volunteered his time for over thirty-five years. Chuck enjoyed mentoring and encouraging several Indian Hills' athletes as they pursued their college and professional careers. Chuck was a proud supporter of the Republican Party and enjoyed political discussions. In his retirement he enjoyed pheasant hunting, spending time with friends and family and impeccably maintaining his home and lawn. Chuck is survived by: wife, Aneta Talbot of Centerville; daughter Anne Klopp of Centerville; son Charles 'Tom' Talbot (Jane) of Marco Island, Florida and three grandchildren, Tanya Endres (Lance) of DePere, WI, Tara Talbot of Portage, WI and Charles 'Hub' Talbot (Trish) of Gainesville, GA. As Chuck would say, 'Chuck Talbot, Centerville, IA, home of the good-guys!!' Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2009 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Spencer Keroff officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery near Unionville, Iowa.
