Christine Roberts' Obituary
CHRISTINE NORMA JEAN ROBERTS Christine Norma Jean (Warren) Roberts was born April 15, 1928 in Wayne County, Iowa to Orville Lyle and Susan Blanche (Tracy) Warren. She left this life on July 29, 2010 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center in Corydon, Iowa at the age of 82 due to complications from COPD. Christine went to Hornocker School for first and second grades, Tinkham School for third through eighth grades, Powersville High School for her freshman and sophomore grades and Sewal Consolidated School during her junior and senior grades. She loved to learn and devoured books as quickly as she got them. On April 15, 1948 she married Gerald Roberts and to this union six children were born: Gerald, Stanley, Stephen, Delbert, Janice and Joetta. Christine was a stay at home mom until Gerald became disabled. She then worked at Gross Galesburg in Chariton as a 'bundle girl.' She also became the treasurer of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, which she enjoyed. When Gross Galesburg closed, she worked at Chamberlains in Albia until they closed. She then worked at Neely Manufacturing in Corydon for over 20 years until her health started to fail. Christine continued her love of reading, quilting, crosswords, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. Christine was a savior to her family, always giving unselfishly of herself and never taking for herself. She will always be remembered with love. She is survived siblings: Shorty (Don) Warren and Garold Lee Warren and his wife Marilyn, and sister Mildred Megonigle, children: Stephen Roberts, Delbert Roberts, Janice Cribb, and Joetta Cortesio and husband Steve, grandchildren: Keith Roberts, Randy Roberts, Melanie Roberts, Daniel Roberts and wife Sheila, Zachary Roberts and wife Jennie, Gabriel Roberts and wife Alexis, Jacquelyn Cribb, Alexander Cribb, and Melissa Vandemark and husband Richard, great-grandchildren: Anthony, Alan, Jasmine, Helix, Joseph, Emily, Liam, Danielle, Morgan, Maddox, Hagan, Savannah, and Bradley, brother-in-law Doyle Roberts, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers. Preceding her in death were her parents Orville and Blanche Warren, husband Gerald, sons Gerald and Stanley, her father and mother-in-law George and Leatha (Cooper) Roberts, grandson Eric Roberts, son-in-law Bob Cribb, and siblings Kermit Warren and wife Ruby, Olivia and husband Donald, Junior Warren and wife Bereneice, Florence Wyatt and husband Richard, Tracy Warren and wives Retha and Irene, Margaret Sowder and husband Wilbur, Harold Warren and wife Rose, Ronald Rex Warren, sisters-in-law Erma Warren and Wilma Roberts, and brother-in-law Sam Megonigle.
