Christine Anne Mihalovich's Obituary
Christine "Chris" Anne Mihalovich, age 77, of Moravia passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the Homestead of Centerville.
Chris was born on March 15, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Olga (Shubut) Starcevich. While attending Centerville High School, she was crowned Prom Queen and graduated with the Class of 1961. On February 9, 1963, Chris was united in marriage to Paul Burnside, and to this union, two children were born, Paul and James. They later divorced. In 1989, Chris married Paul David Mihalovich. She gained two step children, Jan and Steve.
Chris was employed at Chicago Rivet & Machine Co. in Albia for several years until retirement. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and canning. Chris was a devout catholic throughout her lifetime. She spent many years as an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Albia, most recently, a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville.
Left to cherish Christines memory are her sons, Paul (Nicole) Burnside of New London, Iowa and the late James (Dianna Darnell) Burnside; step children, Steve Mihalovich of Moravia and Jan (David) Cowan of Cincinnati; a brother, James (Patty) Starcevich of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Andy (Lindsey) Burnside, Justin (Briawna) Burnside, Rachel (Andrew) Lucchesi, Jennifer Burnside, Mazie Parker, Zac (Madison) Cowan, and Zeth Cowan; seven great grandchildren, Landen Jones, Ellaiana Burnside, Veda Peet, Joseph Lucchesi, Presley Rose Cowan, Jayce Jellison and Jayden Jellison; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband Paul David Mihalovich on January 10, 2020; and her parents, Marion and Olga Starcevich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, August 31, 2020 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Timothy Armbruster officiating. Due to the Covid-19 guidelines, we ask that you practice social distancing as much as possible for the visitation and the funeral. Masks are not required for the visitation but must be worn while attending the funeral service. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will take place Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, beginning at 12:00PM, with the family greeting friends from 2:00PM-4:00PM. A Rosary Service will be conducted by Father Timothy at 4:00 PM. Memorials have been established to either the Cure Alzheimers Association (curealz.org) or EveryStep Hospice, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory C/O Mihalovich family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
