Chloe Wood's Obituary
Chloe A. Wood, age 76, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away February 10, 2009 at the Baptist Hospital in Orange, Texas.
Chloe was born May 27, 1932 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Henry J. and Lorene (Gire) Henderson. She married Kermit Wood, Sr. in 1948. They later divorced. She attended school in Little Rock, Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri. She lived in Chariton, Iowa for part of her life then Centerville, Iowa for the last 40 years. She was a homemaker and businesswoman.
She is survived by her long time companion, John Murphy of Centerville, Iowa; 3 sons Kermit Wood Jr.(Cindy Stockham) of Bloomfield, Iowa, Gary(Amy) Wood of Corydon, Iowa, and Glen(Lisa) Wood of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 7 grandchildren Chay(Lisa) Wood of Chariton, Iowa, Taylor Wood of Phoenix, Arizona, Griffin Wood of Oskaloosa, and Ty, Maddy, Tully, and Stoney Wood of Corydon, Iowa; 1 great-granddaughter Macy Wood of Chariton, Iowa; 2 step-grandchildren Kyler Risher of Centerville, Iowa and Kailyn Risher of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and a sister, Jeanie Johansen of Chariton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose, Iowa. A visitation will held at the funeral home Sunday, 11 AM-8 PM with family present from 2-4 PM.
