Chloe A. Mayer's Obituary
Chloe A. Mayer, age 98, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center - Long Term Care in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Alfred and Emma (Selby) Stites on October 5, 1909 in Exline, Iowa. She graduated from the Exline Community Schools in 1927 and later attended nursing school at St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville.On December 22, 1934, Chloe was united in marriage to Fred Kenneth Mayer in Milton, Iowa. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and was also a nurse for Dr. Donnahue. Later she would work as a private duty nurse making home visits in the Centerville area. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Fred Mayer on April 2, 1999; sisters, Velma Stites and Mildred Clark; brothers, Darl and Burl Stites.Chloe is survived by several nieces and nephews, Howard Clark and his wife, Donna of Fairfield, Iowa, Richard Clark and his wife, Mary of Ocala, Florida, Kay Stites and his wife, Lyla of Peach Tree City, Georgia, Lyle Mayer and his wife, Audrey of Melvin, Iowa, Roger Mayer of Haines City, Florida, Fern Siebersma and her husband, Steven of Milford, Iowa, Cory Kruckenberg and his wife, Mary of Sun City, Arizona, Mildred Staine of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Luella Taylor and her husband, Quentin of Hartley, Iowa, Ruth Mayer Leuck and her husband, Richard Handy of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Charles Mayer of Manitoba, Canada, Gail Dean and her husband, Bruce of West Isip, New York and Carol Satre of Patla Lake, British Columbia, Canada.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow at the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville.
