Charlotte Colene Selvy's Obituary
Colene Selvy, age 86 of Moulton, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 08, 2015 at Centerville, Iowa Nursing and Rehab Center.
Colene was born November 22, 1928 in Moulton, Iowa. She graduated from Moulton-Udell High School. Colene spent a brief period of time teaching country school near Moulton.
She married Gordon Selvy September 3, 1948 in Montezuma, Iowa. Colene devoted her life to her family, raising eleven children.
She enjoyed gardening, as well as talking daily to her sister-in-law, Fern Meeker.
Colene is survived by nine children, James (Kathy) Selvy of Missouri; Dennis (Connie) Selvy of Cincinnati, Iowa, Loren (Barb) Selvy of Livonia, Missouri, Vernon (Lauralee) Selvy of Centerville, Iowa, Julie Ann (David) Jonaitis of Livonia, Missouri, George (Leslie) Selvy of Northfield, Minnesota, Douglas (Carol) Selvy of Albia, Iowa, Sandy (Rick) Selvy-Mullis of Albemarle, North Carolina and Jesse Selvy of Centerville, Iowa; six brothers, Boyd Swarts of Alabama, Cloyd Swarts of the Quad Cities, Floyd Swarts of Moulton, Iowa, DeLoyd Swarts of Texas, LeRoyd Swarts of Monroe, Iowa and CleRoyd Swarts of Newton, Iowa; two sisters, Ilene Sleeth of Centerville, Iowa and Caroline Purvis of Colorado; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Selvy .
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon Selvy; a son, Clifford Selvy; a daughter, Sally Sue Selvy; and a sister, Arlene DeCook.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. There will be an open visitation on Sunday at the funeral home from Noon until 6 PM. Family will be greeting friends from 10 AM until service time on Monday at Lange Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hilltown Cemetery, south of Moulton. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Care Initiatives and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
