Charlotte D. Overturf's Obituary
Charlotte D. Overturf, age 75, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at her daughter's home in Montgomery, Texas. She was born the daughter of Burr and Leta (Morlan) Teater on June 2, 1928 near Confidence, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville Community Schools in 1946 and later attended Kirksville Junior College in Kirksville, Missouri, Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas and North Harris Community College in Houston, Texas.On May 27, 1949, Charlotte was united in marriage to Russell Eugene Overturf in Centerville, Iowa. She was a school teacher at the Centerville Community Schools and Aldine School District for several years and later was an accountant. She attended Drake Avenue Christian Church of Centerville, where she was President of the Lydia Circle for over 10 years and a member of the Christian Women Fellowship. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Ottumwa, Iowa. In September of 2003, Charlotte moved to live with her daughter in Montgomery, Texas.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Russell Eugene Overturf; daughter, Kathleen Marie Overturf; and brothers, Harl L. and Ardys Calvin Teater.Charlotte is survived by: her daughters, Rita Lewis and her husband, Charles of Mesquite,Texas; Mary Botkin and her husband, Ron of Montgomery, Texas; and brother and sisters, Marilyn Condra (Marvin) of Unionville, Missouri, Alyn Teater (Eleanor) of Centerville and Joann Everman of Davenport, Iowa; as well as 3 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 10 AM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery south of Moravia, Iowa. Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with a prayer service at 7 pm. Family will be present from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home on Friday.
