Charles Arthur Williamson's Obituary
Charles Arthur Williamson, age 66 of Truro, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home.
Charlie was born on January 2, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of James and Margaret Williamson. He was united in marriage to Terry VanOrt, and to this union two children were born, Kate and Wayland. The couple later divorced.
Charlie began his employment with Ervins Ambulance Service in Centerville for several years, until St. Josephs Hospital acquired the ambulance service. He worked at St. Josephs until he took a position with Monroe County Hospital where he worked as an EMT until his retirement from the emergency services field. Charlie loved his two chihuahua dogs, who kept him company during retirement.
Left to honor Charlies memory are his mother, Margaret Williamson of Centerville; his children, Kate Williamson of Centerville and Wayland (Samantha) Williamson of Lenexa, Kansas; two granddaughters, Mia Williamson and Reese Williamson; a grandson on the way; seven siblings, Jerry (Betsy) Williamson of Hudson Falls, NY, Kevin (Marlene) Williamson of Numa, IA, Martha (Cliff) Jones of Mystic, IA, Patrick (Tammy) Williamson of Centerville, IA, Harry Williamson of Manhattan, KS, Mary (Randy) Mulay of Centerville, and James Williamson of Cincinnati; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, James Williamson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, February 26, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating. Cremation will take place following the funeral service with a private family burial to be held at a later date. Visitation will take place Friday, February 26, 2021, with the family greeting friends from 11AM-1PM. Memorials have been established to Kate Williamson, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, C/O Williamson family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
