Charles Wakefield's Obituary
Charles Wakefield Jr. 77, of Mystic, Iowa passed away on March 20, 2006 in Mystic, Iowa.
Charles was born on November 14, 1928 the son of Charles and Irene (Haines) Wakefield in Appanoose County. Charles graduated from Moravia High School. Charles married Verna Louise Overturf on December 30, 1950 in Moravia, Iowa. He worked for McGraw-Edison for 13 years, was a Rural Mail Carrier for 16 years and farmed his whole life. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Centerville and was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved farming, chasing his cows, riding 4-wheelers, cutting wood, and Hunting
Charles is survived by his wife, Verna; two daughters, Sherry (Mike) Murphy of Centerville, IA, Cindy Donald of Henderson, NV; two sons, Steve (Michele) Wakefield of Bellevue, NE, Michael Wakefield of Minneapolis, MN, two sisters, Donna (Howard) Spencer of Council Bluffs, IA and Dixie (Wendell) Phillips of Hollister, MO.; 10 grandchildren, Nate Donald of Las Vegas, NV, Jason Murphy of Centerville, IA, Justin Donald of Henderson, NV, Jennifer Murphy Frampton of Iowa City, IA, J.T. Murphy of Ames, IA, Nicole Donald of Reno, NV, Skye Wakefield of Bellevue, NE, Megan Wakefield of Stronghurst, IL, Mikayla Wakefield of Stronghurst, IL, Sara Wakefield of Bellevue, NE and one great grandchild Madison Murphy of Centerville, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Roberta Purvis, and a brother Jerry Wakefield.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM Friday March 24, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Dianne Christopher officiating. Interment of the cremains will be Friday afternoon at 2 PM at the Concord Cemetery with military honors. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM Thursday evening at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to either the First United Methodist Church or the Concord Cemetery and may be left or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
