Charles Reed's Obituary
Charles Tracy Reed Jr., 70, of Corydon, Iowa passed away on August 11, 2018 at the VA Community Living Center Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Chuck was born on September 11, 1947 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Florence (Orr) and Tracy Reed of New Sharon, Iowa. He attended North Mahaska schools and graduated with the class of 1965. Chuck was united in marriage to Linda Lou Long on September 29, 1967 and to this union two children were born: Julie Ann and Brandan Kane. After graduating from Centerville Community College in 1967, Chuck enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Chuck was an accomplished fabricator, welder, race car and street rod builder, storyteller and animal lover. He was an avid deer hunter and arrowhead hunter until his health worsened. He loved drag racing and started his career at Eddyville Dragway and then built a blown alcohol dragster and raced at different tracks in the United States. Chuck was so proud of his kids' and grandkids' accomplishments. Chuck is survived by his wife, Linda of 50 years and his children: Julie (Brant) Alley of Windsor, Colorado and Brandan (Jennifer) Reed of Corydon, Iowa; grandchildren: Jacinda Nicole and Brooklyn Kai Reed of Corydon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sally Ann Luse of Marion, Iowa; sister, Judith (Dean) Sieck of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; nieces: Shari (Mike) Stark of Marion, Iowa and Jenny Sieck of Ohio; nephews: Mark (Kim) Luse of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Tim Sieck of Ohio and one great nephew, Aaron Stark of Marion, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Florence and Tracy Reed and his mother and father -in-law, Leona and Clyde Long of Centerville, Iowa as well as his brother-in-law, Jim Luse of Marion, Iowa. Per Chuck's request, no services will be held. Private interment will be in the Hogue Cemetery.
