She was born on August 11th, 1929 to Bill and Vera Mahin in Albia, Iowa. Charlene attended Reitzel country school until 8th grade and graduated from Albia High school in 1946 at the age of 16. Because she wasnt of legal age, she went to work for Alfred Pabsts a local attorney. At the age of 18, she went to work at the VA hospital in Knoxville. She married James Wilson on April 30, 1950 in Moravia. They had the privilege of celebrating 71 years of marriage.

James and Charlene retired from farming in 2000. They travel extensively throughout the United States making memories with each other and seeing magnificent scenery. Alaska was a highlight in their travels as well as traveling internationally into Mexico and Central America. Along the camping trail, they met many people that become life-long friends.

Both James and Charlene helping deliver community meals. She was a long-time active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia. When the kids were in school, she assisted with music mothers (gotta love that Fall Festival tent) and attending many sporting events at MHS and helped many early mornings with 4H projects. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and was an avid reader.
Charlene was always willing to assist a friend, bring a meal to the field, go boating with the family on Sunday afternoons, bake cookies with the grandkids, and treat everyone with her true kindness and generosity!
