Charlene E. Long's Obituary
Charlene E. Long, age 85, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Harry and Eva (Glascock) Winger on September 8, 1921 in Seymour, Iowa. She received her education in the Centerville Community Schools.On April 24, 1943, Charlene was united in marriage to Erman M. Long in Lancaster, Missouri. She worked for over 9 years at the Union Carbide, and later worked at Pale Moon, Catfish Place as well as the City Drug all in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Marlin, Max and John D. Winger; sisters, Betty Bullard and Phyllis Thompson.Charlene is survived by: her husband, Erman Long of Centerville, Iowa; her sons, Dr. James and his wife, Dr. Elaine Long of Boise, Idaho and Erman L. and his wife, Charlotte Long of Centerville, Iowa; daughter, Joyce and her husband, Henry Rogers of Casa Grand, Arizona; grandchildren, Matthew Long of Boise, Idaho, Andrew Long of San Francisco, California, Meghan Rogers of Los Angeles, California, Kate Rogers of Phoenix, Arizona and Amy Lee and her husband, James Brown of Centerville, Iowa; great grandchildren, Garrett and Logan Brown of Centerville, Iowa.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2007at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Dale Cemetery north of Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 1 pm till 8 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral Home.Memorials can be made to the Golden Age Care Center Activity Fund and can be left at or mailed to the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Charlene E.
