Charlene Annis' Obituary
Charlene Lucile Gillman Annis was born September 7, 1924 at Bethlehem, in Wayne County. As a child, Charlene attended Palestine and Bethlehem country schools until her family moved to Millerton, she graduated from Millerton Schools in 1942. After graduation, Charlene worked at Aten Grocery and Maurice Scott Grocery. She also worked at Millerton Schools for two years as a janitor. Charlene was united in marriage to Orville Junior Annis on December 2, 1946 at a parsonage in Newton. To this union, two children were born: Dennis and Connie. The two made their family home on the farm where they would remain until their retirement in 1982. Charlene took a job at Thomas & Norman Grocery in Corydon once the kids were in school. She would later finish her working career at Neely's. In 1982, Junior and Charlene built a home in Corydon and moved to town. Charlene enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping with friends and family. She took a special interest in her kids and grandchildren's activities and is remembered as frying the tastiest catch of the day. Charlene is survived by her children: Dennis Annis (Judy), Connie Klinger (Alan), grandchildren: Troy Annis (Heather), Tonya Davis (Jeremy), Carolyn Klinger, Andrea Ring (Corey), Nathan Klinger; great grandchildren: Micheala Parris, Marqui Claytor, Brooklyn Ring, Devin Ring, Lanee Davis, Hudson Davis, Taylor Annis, Camden Annis, and a niece Janeen Schmidt (Lloyd). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Junior, infant sister, Mildred Luada, nephew, Arnold Weeks and her brother-in-law & sister - in-law, Keith & Vera Weeks. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will be in Corydon Cemetery immediately following. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday from 10-11:00 am.
