Catherine Marie Benac passed peacefully on October 2, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Home in Indianola Iowa surrounded by her loved ones. Cay is survived by a nephew Barry Benac of Florida, two great nieces, Shelly (Gary) Benac of Vi Read Obituary
I wrote a poem for cay because i miss her so much! She was like a grandma to me! Cay was such an important part of my life as well as my family's lives. I grew up knowing her as my second great grandma and I will greatly miss her. She was quite an inspiration to me and she is the reason I am in nursing school today because I want to be impact so many people's lives just like she did. Miss you and love you Cay! I did have the pleasure of meeting Cay on a few occasions in the early 80's she was a warm and frienly person. You could feel the love she had for my husband Jeff and his family when present with her. We have many fond memories of Cay on those several occasions that we had the pleasure of spending with Cay. We was a warm and wonderful person who will surely be missed by her family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her beloved family and dear friends. Cay, may you be with the Lord in his abundance of Love and Mercy. Rest in Peace. I meant Cay in Centerville when I was an employ at St.Joseph's @the Continetal where she lived in the supportive care unit. She was a very sweet and caring lady. Cay was such an enormous influence in our lives. For me personally, she was a mentor and teacher as we worked together for many years in the OR at St. Joseph Mercy and then for a few years at the new building. Cay taught me how important it is to keep your eyes open and your mouth shut. She lived by that rule and when she did have something to say she knew how to get her point across quickly. My husband and I and our children all felt blessed to have Cay as part of our 'family'. Both of our children had their favorite memories of things she did to show her generous and loving nature and Gary and I often talk about how we admired Cay's strength and upbeat attitude. We shared many happy family events with Cay and when she was no longer able to participate with us her presence was truly missed.
