In addition to all of her contributions to the Seymour community, Carolyn was a model cousin and an important part of the Harl family. Her mother Edna, was the younger sister of my mother Bessie, and the lives of our two families intertwined in several ways in the course of their lives. Living at one time within a half mile of each other, the Bryants and Staggs shared many events, including church attendance, school attendance, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas celebrations, and annual Harl Reunions. With the death of Aunt Ruth Harl Cook, the youngest child of E.E. and Winnie Harl, Carolyn became the matriarch of Harl family. She continued serving as the chief organizer of the annual Harl Reunion for the last 10 years. As one senior member of the Harl family stated, Carolyn was the pillar of the family. We will miss her.
