Carolyn LeAnn Roof's Obituary
Carolyn LeAnn Roof, age 63, passed away on March 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of laughter, love and devotion to those closest to her.
Carolyn was born on May 6, 1962, one of eleven children born to Grover and Virginia Robbins. Carolyn was raised in rural Unionville and graduated from Putnam County High School in 1980. The following year she married the love of her life, Roger Roof, on April 5, 1981. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage, farming in rural Putnam County and raising their three beloved children. Garrett, Lacey, and Colby were the center of Carolyn's world and she felt very fortunate to be a stay-at-home mother during their childhood years. In addition to taking care of the home, Carolyn also babysat a couple of very special girls for several years. Katey and Maddison Haines came into the Roof family's life when they were little babies and etched a special place in Carolyn's heart from the very beginning. Carolyn's greatest pride came later in life when she became a grandmother. Carolyn, or "Ma", as she was lovingly known as, was a cherished grandmother to Brady, Lauren, Colton, Cora, and Olivia. Carolyn and Roger would both say if they knew having grandkids was so great, they would have had them first!
Carolyn loved good country music, camping trips with family, and playing card games for hours on end. Carolyn enjoyed trips to the casino and any opportunity to spend time surrounded by her family. Her fun sense of humor and ornery spirit made her the center of attention at family gatherings, where her laughter and quick wit could light up the room. Carolyn took great pride in creating a home filled with comfort and love. She enjoyed planting pretty flowers around her home and making sure anyone who visited were well fed and entertained. She will always be remembered as a wonderful cook whose meals brought everyone to the table and kept them there with stories and laughter.
Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ into her heart as her Lord and Savior at a young age, having been baptized at the First Baptist Church in Unionville in 1978. Even throughout her lengthy illness, Carolyn's faith never waivered and she was comforted knowing she would be greeted in heaven by her loved ones who had gone before her. Carolyn was proceeded in death by her parents, Grover and Virginia Robbins, her in-laws, Melvin and Valee Roof, her oldest brother, Roy Lee Robbins and her infant granddaughter, Ava Brielle Lierly.
Carolyn will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her loving husband Roger, her children, Garrett Roof (Megan) Lacey Lierly (Jesse) Colby Roof (Carlie) and grandchildren, Brady & Lauren Roof, Olivia Lierly, and Colton & Cora Roof. Carolyn is also survived by her siblings, Carl Robbins (Sherry), Darl Robbins (Thelma), Judy Kelso, Patty Rouse (Paul), Kathleen Kimmel (Doug), Glenda Ambrosia, David Robbins (Karen), Randy Robbins (Melanie) LaDonna Roberts (Jerry), sister-in-law, Sharon Robbins, and brother-in-law, Curtis Roof (Joyce). Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at Thomas Funeral Home in Unionville, MO. Visitation will take place 2 hours prior from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Carolyn's wishes were to be cremated with burial taking place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Putnam County Cancer Fund LLC and Hospice of Northeast Missouri and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: Roof Family 709 S. 27th St. Unionville, MO 63565.
