Carolyn Jean (Carlyle) Lawrence, daughter of Howard E. Carlyle and Lois (Stewart) Carlyle was born on May 1, 1945 in Wayne County, Iowa and passed away at the Westridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Knoxville, Iowa on August 20, 2014, at the age of 69 years, 3 months, and 20 days. Carolyn was united in marriage to Virgil Dale Lawrence on November 14, 1981. Virgil departed this life on May 22, 1994, at the age of 59 years. Carolyn attended her earlier years of school in Sewal and her later years at Seymour Community graduating with the class of 1963. She was a member of the Sewal United Methodist Church and active in Youth Fellowship and a member of the Jackson Wild Rose 4-H Club. Carolyn worked for Bankers Life in Des Moines until her marriage. After her marriage she moved to Knoxville where she worked twenty plus years at KFC, retiring on April 16, 2005. Carolyn enjoyed being with her family and friends. She especially loved her nieces and nephews. After her failing health, she enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows and playing games on the computer. Other favorites were chocolate chip cookies, apple pie and the color blue. She also enjoyed going to shows at the Civic Center with her friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Carolyn is survived by four brothers and one sister: Marvin (Connie) Carlyle of Colfax, Iowa, Jim Carlyle (Marlene) of Corydon, Iowa, Marilyn (Steve) Knode of Des Moines, Iowa, Don (Carolyn) Carlyle of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Wayne 'Oscar' Carlyle of Corydon, Iowa. She is also survived by four nieces and five nephews: Tina (Steve) Walters, Alexis, Darryn, and Lindsey of Mitchell, Nebraska, Sheila Kaufman, Trenton and Cuyler of Gering, Nebraska, Amanda (Brant) McLeod, Shelby and Kyle of Billings, Montana, Danny (Kirsten) Knode, Alina and Will of Ackworth, Georgia, Randy (Kristin) Knode, Karlee, and Kaycee of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Tammy Ranfeld and Raegan of Altoona, Iowa, Ken (Krishna) Carlyle, Kathryn and Kyra of Centerville, Iowa, Terry Carlyle of Owatonna, Minnesota, Dave Carlyle of Corydon, Iowa, one great nephew, several cousins and other relatives and friends.
