Carol Jean Spurgeon Obituary's Obituary
Carol Spurgeon, 74 of Moulton passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Baywood Banner Hospital in Mesa, AZ. Carol was born on February 6, 1934 to Lloyd and Nellie (Jacobs) King in Centerville, Iowa. She received her education from Centerville High School in 1951. Carol married Bobby Wayne Spurgeon on June 8, 1952 in Centerville. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2006. Carol was a homemaker and enjoyed going out to eat, flowers, cooking, shopping with the girls, attending shows at the Rathbun Country Music Theatre and time spent with her friends and family; especially her grandchildren. Carol is survived by four children; Rita Kirby(Jim) of Moulton, Steve Spurgeon(Cheri) of Moulton, Sally Fenton of Moulton, Jim Spurgeon of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren, Julie Stickler(Mikal) of Centerville, Jesse Kirby of Adel, Jared Kirby(Chrissy) of Runnells, Jill Kirby of West Des Moines, Kasey Spurgeon of West Des Moines, Erica Fenton of Moulton, Jason Spurgeon of Moulton, David Spurgeon(Andrea) of Ankeny, Michelle Cossolotto(Steve) of Cincinnati; 13 great grandchildren and three sisters; Helen Stevens of Mesa, AZ, Shirley Ross(Carl) of Tuscon, AZ and Joyce Bowen(Jerry) of Numa. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby, son Roger Spurgeon, brother Bob King, granddaughter, Jacklyn Spurgeon, infant sister and her parents Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating. Visitation will be all day Monday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton.
