Carmen Cortesio's Obituary
Carmen Cortesio, age 79 of Rathbun, Iowa died Saturday afternoon March 19, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
He was born April 8, 1925 at Rathbun, Iowa the son of Charles and Maggie (Mitchell) Cortesio. He was employed by the US Postal Service for many years in Kansas City and Appanoose County. He also farmed and raised cattle. He loved sports especially the Big Reds, he like to hunt and to fish. He received his education from Rathbun Schools, Centerville Community College and attended Northeast Community School. He was a member of the VFW the American Legion and the Amvets. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by four brothers and sisters Jenny Martin and her husband Don of Centerville, Tom Cortesio and his wife Delores of Centerville, Ann McGuire and her husband Mick of Centerville, Richard Cortesio and his friends Katie Roberts of Des Moines, Iowa, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and sisters Rose White, Tony Cortesio, Mary Cortesio, Joe Cortesio, Louis Cortesio, Charles Jr., Cortesio.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday morning, March 22, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Will C.PP.S officiating. Friends may call Monday from 1- 8 PM with the family present from 6- 8 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery, north of Mystic, Iowa. A memorial has been established to St. Mary's catholic Church and may be left or mailed to the Thomas lnage Funeral Home POI Box 6, Centerville, Iowa 52544 www.thomaslangefuneralhome.com
