CARMEN CASEY's Obituary
Carmen Jean (Jeanie) Casey was born November 10, 1941 to Gilbert and Wilma (Parks) Wills in Centerville, Iowa and went to be with her Lord March 4, 2010 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon under hospice care after a brief battle with lung cancer. Jeanie married William Casey on April 6, 1963 in Seymour. To this union they were blessed with two daughters Christine Colette and Catherine Carmen. Jeanie was raised in the Seymour area and was a 1960 graduate of the Seymour High School. She graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines in 1961. After graduation she worked for several years in Corydon as a beauty operator and owned and operated her own beauty shop, Jeanie's Casual Curls, off the northwest corner of the square in Corydon. From 1992 to 1998 she and her husband owned and operated the Chariton Dairy Queen in Chariton. Jeanie and William made their home for over 30 years on the family farm west of Allerton. After selling the farm in 1997 they moved to Chariton to be closer to the business. For the last several years they have made their home in Mercer, Missouri. Her family was always a big part of her life and she was a member of the Lineville Mercer Christian Church in Mercer. Jeanie was an avid crafter and quilter. Several of her creations grace the girls' homes. She made all of the flowers for both of the girls' weddings and her granddaughter Stephanie's. She passed on her talents to her granddaughters Cassie and Bethany, as they were always working on something with Grandma or they were shopping for just the right fabric for the latest quilt. Grandchildren Alison and Luke always looked forward to summer visits at Grandma and Papa's. Her children and grandchildren were always at the center of her heart and she cherished every moment that she spent with them. She always had time to tell them one of her famous "grandma stories." Preceding Jeanie in death were her parents and sister Joyce Wayman. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William Casey of the home in Mercer, daughters Christine McHargue and husband Jerry of Chariton and Cathy Woodley and husband Rich of Mercer. She is survived by five grandchildren Alison and Luke McHargue of Chariton, Cassie and Bethany Woodley of Mercer, Stephanie Stolzman and husband Casey of Conrad and one great granddaughter Mya Stolzman of Conrad.
