Carla Kay Wahl's Obituary
Carla Kay (Mihalovich) Wahl, age 62, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Friday, May 21, 2021.
She was born on March 22, 1959 in Centerville, Iowa the daughter of Daniel Francis Mihalovich Sr. and Ileta Reeves. Carla graduated from Centerville High School in 1978. She furthered her education at Northeast Missouri State University, graduating in 1982 with a bachelors degree in Science and Education.
Following her college graduation, Carla was united in marriage to Flint Wahl on June 5, 1982 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville.
Carlas first job after college was at Iowa Trust and Savings Bank in Centerville. She was employed with the bank for five years. Carla subsequently accepted an office position at St. Marys Catholic School in Centerville, a job she held for a period of time. She then went to work at Johnson Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, operating as the office manager for an estimated period of five to six years. Carlas next job came with Seneca/Milestone Area Agency on Aging in Centerville, working as a case manager for roughly five years. Moreover, she worked with the geriatric community as the site manager. Making the difficult decision to loosen up her weekly workload, Carla transitioned within the Area Agency on Aging by relocating to Albia to finish up her career, eventually retiring after thirty-two years of service with the agency. Carla loved her work with the agency and developed numerous friendships throughout her years of employment.
Carla believed in civic responsibility within the community she lived. Through her years of dedication to the City of Centerville, Carla was once nominated as Citizen of the Year by the Business Professional Women, and in turn, was escorted as she rode in the Centerville Pancake Day Parade. Furthermore, Carla was the Director of the Centerville 18-80 Club for eighteen years.
Left to honor her memory include her husband of nearly thirty-nine years, Flint Wahl of Centerville, Iowa; two children, Isaac (Sam) Wahl of Centerville, Iowa, and Dallas (Taija) Wahl of Plano, Iowa; her loving parents, Dan and Ileta Mihalovich of Centerville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Addison Wahl, Tanzi Wahl, Chace Wahl, Maddyx Wahl, and Byren Hendricks; and four siblings, Dan (Julie) Mihalovich Jr. of Centerville, Iowa, Joan (Terry) Lang of Raymond, Iowa, Dennis (Jolanda) Mihalovich of Centerville, Iowa, and Dave (Sherry) Mihalovich of Trenton, Missouri.
Carla was preceded in death by her daughter, Danielle Renee Wahl; her paternal grandparents, Dan and Vic Mihalovich; and her maternal grandparents, William and Vesta Reeves.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Timothy Armbruster officiating. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM. A Prayer Service in Carlas honor will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, starting at 5:30 PM. According to Carlas wishes, cremation has been accorded and there will be no cemetery committal services at this time. Memorials have been established to either the Area Agency on Aging or to the Ladies of St. Marys in Centerville and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA, 52544.
