Harley ""Carl"" Tissue Jr., 82, of the Golden Age Care Center, Centerville, Iowa died Thursday evening, April 1, 2010 at the center following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with the Reverend Basil Tadlock and Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. A memorial has been established to Senior Meals, Moravia, Iowa and may be left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home in Moravia. Following the service, a gathering and luncheon will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, Moravia.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Wilma Iomogene Tisue; Sons, Wayne of Cibolo, Texas, Gary (Mary) of Milan, Illinois, Alan (Lisa) of Keller, Texas; Sister, Ernestine Argo of Moravia. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.
Honorary casketbearers will be grandchildren Ashley, Mamie, Adam, Megan, Micah, Noah, Joshua Tisue, and nephew Brian Kaster.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clifford and a sister, Evelyn Nash.
Harley Carl Tissue Jr. was born January 22, 1928 in Appanoose County the son of Harley Carl and Mamie (Lemaster) Tisue. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Carl worked as a typesetter and printer for the Moravian Union Newspaper for fifteen years and then was a rural route #2 mail carrier for the Moravia Post Office for many years. He was involved in his community where he served on the school board and also as School Board President. Carl especially enjoyed taking his three boys to Little League, Babe Ruth, and high school sports. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening. He was a devoted husband for over sixty years and often called Imogene ""Genie."" He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
