Carl Nicholson's Obituary
Carl Nicholson, 91 of Corydon passed away November 2, 2019 at Corydon Specialty Care. Carl was born in Weldon, Iowa at his family home on July 19, 1928. He was born to Lafayette and Mamie (Morris) Nicholson. He graduated from Weldon High School. Carl worked for and retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation where he worked as a weigh officer for twenty plus years. One of his favorite past times was playing the guitar with his band the Backwoods Boys. Carl was a member of the Free Masons of Weldon, he enjoyed gardening and he and Pauline spent many winters in Texas. They also attended several music festivals around Iowa and Missouri in the summers, where many times Carl performed. Survivors include daughter Carla Beavers, son Mike Nicholson (Lora Jean), step daughter Roberta Porter, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna Nicholson, wife Pauline Nicholson, son-in-law Daryl Beavers, step son Rick Gragg, and brother Bernard Nicholson. Funeral service will be Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Diane Olson Schroeder officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10-11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Prairie Trails Museum or to Corydon Old Settlers.
