Carl John Kiedrowski's Obituary
Carl John Kiedrowski, age 83 of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
Carl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 12, 1929, the son of William and Victoria (Kleppin) Kiedrowski. While in high school in Milwaukee, he started working for Shuster's Department Store. During this period of time Carl learned to operate a small printing press and held various positions throughout the print department. He later attended school to learn repair operations for the different types of printing press machines.
Carl was quite the talent on the baseball field. In fact, he played minor league baseball, advancing as far as AAA ball. Furthermore, he played in a softball league with the Milwaukee Police Department.
He married Leona Marie Thomas on December 30, 1948 in Milwaukee and to this union, three children were born, Michael, Patrick, and Nicholas.
He became employed with Wells Manufacturing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Carl eventually relocated to Centerville, Iowa in order to continue his career with Wells. He remained with Wells until his retirement in the late 90s.
In his free time Carl enjoyed fishing and hunting. Carl and his family had a lot of good times together. He will be greatly missed.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Centerville Knights of Columbus.
Carl is survived by his wife Leona Kiedrowski of Centerville, Iowa; two children, Nicholas (Debra) Kiedrowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mike (Sue) Kiedrowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Caitlin (Brian) McBride, Erin (Sam) Carpenter, Adam and wife Rose, Allen, Jason (Becky), Carl John and wife Alissa, Nicholas; a step-granddaughter Liz Finnegan; great grandchildren, Angel and Kaylie McBride, Alyssa and Kristen Carpenter, Sara and Adam, Makayla and Max; and one step great grandchild, Alana Gonzales.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Patrick Kiedrowski; a sister Emily Wolf; and two brothers, Stanley and Richard Kiedrowski.
According to Carl's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. There will be no visitation or cemetery inurnment. Memorials have been established to either St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Centerville Knights of Columbus and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
