Carl A. Heien, Jr.'s Obituary
Carl A. Heien, Jr., age 42, of Ankeny, Iowa and a former Centerville, Iowa resident, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Rev. Carl and Sharon (Carey) Heien on November 13, 1964 in Monte Vista, Colorado. He received his education in Haysville, Kansas and Fredonia, Kansas and graduated in 1983. He then attended Wichita State University and majored in Sports Medicine. Afterward he attended Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and majored in Missions and was ordained in the ministry by the College.He served as missionary in Kenya and Tanzania, with short mission trips to teach, such as India, Haiti and Nepal. In Tanzania, Carl started a Bible School for church leaders of many denominations. On October 2, 1999, Carl was united in marriage to Renee Petersen in Centerville, Iowa. She also graduated from the Rhema Bible College and joined Carl on the mission field in Tanzania. He was a member of the Word of Victory Outreach Center in Ankeny, Iowa.He is preceded in death by: his Paternal and Maternal grandparents.Carl is survived by: his wife, Renee Heien of Ankeny, Iowa; parents, Rev. Carl and his wife, Sharon Heien of Centerville, Iowa; brother Mark Heien and his wife, Tana of Puyallup, Washington; niece, Hannah Heien of Puyallup, Washington; aunt, Betty Carey of Centerville, Iowa; uncle, Duane Carey and his wife, Barbara of Moab, Utah; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Maryls Petersen of Mason City, Iowa; along with a host of cousins and friends.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 1 pm at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Brian Ruggles officiating. Burial will follow at the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 from 2 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the family and can be left at or mailed to the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Carl A.
