Carl E Hamm, Jr.'s Obituary
Carl E. Hamm, age 83, of Centerville, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.
Carl was born on May 26, 1940 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Carl and Belle (Schaffer) Hamm. He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1958.
Carl managed a janitor supply company in Phoenix for a period of time before he moved back to Iowa. He then began working for Orscheln Farm & Home in Centerville. He also worked at Wells from 1987 to 2007 when he retired. In his free time, Carl enjoyed reading and spending time with his loved ones and friends.
Left to honor Carl's memory are his nieces, Barbara Frewing and Sandra DeDio; his nephew, Keith Owen; great nieces and nephews, Sonja Wegner, Mark Owen, Whitney Hornaday, JR Glenn, John Frewing, Tim Frewing, Jeffrey Jones, Chris Jones, Shannon Jackson, Tony Jackson, Grant Thomas, Adam Thomas, Bobbi Dobbs, Stanley Moore, Colby Moore, Toni Moore; many great great nieces and nephews; as well as several close friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Belle Hamm; his sisters, Margaret (George) Jones, Frances (Kenneth) Owen, Phyllis (LaVerne) Disney, and Dorothy (Kenneth) Moore; and his nieces and nephews, Diana (Owen) Glenn, Kathy (Disney) Bleiziffer, Butch Jones, Bobby Moore, Stanley Moore and Gary Moore.
Per Carl's wishes, cremation has been accorded. Services will be announced in the near future. Burial will be held at Jerome Cemetery at a later date. An open memorial has been established, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Hamm family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
