Cameron J. Crow's Obituary
Cameron J. Crow, age 39, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was just four months shy of his 40th birthday.
Cameron James Crow was born on September 13, 1986 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Terry Wayne Crow and Amber D. (Ostino) Thomas. He grew up between Centerville, Iowa and East Moline, Illinois, spending a few years in Little York, Illinois before coming back to Numa, Iowa about 2002. He attended Centerville High School, eventually getting his GED.
After high school he worked at a pig farm in Green City, Missouri, a job he really enjoyed. Afterwards he worked at the Royal Oak charcoal plant in Ellsinore, Missouri, followed by a handful of factory jobs here and there that weren't really his favorite, but they paid the bills. Recently he had been building coils at Hill Phoenix in Centerville, Iowa and loved driving for DoorDash in his off time.
Cameron became a father for the first time in 2009 with the birth of Jersie Ostino, then later came Jaycie Crow, Payton Terrell, and Zayla Elarton. He loved those girls more than they will ever know. Cameron's love life was a little more complicated. He married Lizzy Kumer in 2014 then Chelsea DeHaven in 2018, later divorcing.
There were many things that Cameron enjoyed including spending time with friends, hunting for rocks, collecting knives and antiques, riding his motorcycle, listening to music, shooting pool with his brother, Thomas, and long walks in the woods with his beloved dog, Brody, who he referred to as his son.
Cameron had a smile that would light up any room and a laugh that was contagious. He was always able to find just the right words to comfort those around him and never hesitated to give you a big hug and tell you that he loved you. Cameron had a heart of gold and the ability to make every one of his friends feel like family. His relationship with his niece and nephews meant the world to him and the bond they shared was truly something special. Cameron was funny too. Funny and unfiltered, and while his sense of humor wasn't always appropriate for everyone, boy did he love to laugh.
Cameron will be greatly missed by his parents, Amber D. (Ostino) Thomas of Numa, Iowa and Terry Wayne Crow of Creston, Iowa; his stepparents, Rodger Thomas of Numa, Iowa and Paula (Vestal) Crow of Creston, Iowa; his daughters, Jersie Ostino of Des Moines, Iowa and Jaycie Crow, Payton Terrell, and Zayla Elarton of Malden, Missouri; his sisters, Brandee Crow (David Williams) of Unionville, Missouri, Megan Crow (Thomas Ruckman) of Centerville, Iowa, Lyrica Horn of Creston, Iowa and Faith Thomas; his brothers, Banxton Horn of Creston, Iowa, Skyler (Courtney) Thomas, Garrett Thomas, Corey Thomas, Austin McKay, and Hoss McKay; his nieces and nephews, Jazmynn Crow of Centerville, Iowa and Jaylen Jonaitis, Zeek Peterson, and Blaze Williams of Unionville, Missouri, Phoenix Hughes, Bronx Thomas, Zoey Thomas, and Karsyn Thomas; his grandmother, Joann Ostino of Numa, Iowa; his dog, Brody; and a wide circle of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James E. Ostino, Gary E. Crow and Marilyn (Heaivilin) Crow; his nephew, Abel James Verdugo; his aunt and uncle, Cheryl and Michael Jones; and his step dad, Rick Stock.
Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Centerville Faith Church and a celebration of life will follow at the Island View Shelter at Rathbun Lake. All are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at a later date in Numa Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either Brandee Crow or Megan Crow, to be designated at a later date, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Crow Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
