Britt Allen Micetich's Obituary
Britt Micetich, 66 of Knoxville passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Knoxville Hospital.
Britt was born to Carl & Lois (Davis) Micetich on May 28, 1955 in Centerville. He received his education from Centerville Schools, graduating in 1973. On April 27, 2007, Britt was united in marriage to Marilyn Powders. She was the love of his life and they shared 44 wonderful years together.
Britt worked the last 25 years for his brother Bruce at Advance Transmission in Knoxville as a transmission builder. His first job he began at age 14 working for his Uncle Angelo, on to Kauzlarich's gas station, Sieg Auto Parts, Richard Gordon's shop, Gene's Transmissions, his own shop Machine Tech- all of these in Centerville, DeVore Motors (Knoxville), Parker Machine (Newton), ET Automotive (Dallas, Tx) where he built racing engines for cars & boats, and CT Racing (Sioux City, SD) where he was Crew Chief for a 3 car team of Pro Mod 70 Chevelles. He even found his way tuning a Pro Mod team in Sweden & raced all over Europe. He was hired to kick start a lot of local race teams over the years with custom tuning which earned them multiple career wins and championships.
In his spare time, Britt loved cat fishing. He was an innovator and enjoyed building powerful motors. He also loved building fuel systems. Britt had an enormous love for drag racing all of his life. Just some of his innovations to mention he greatly assisted BDS,Kobelco (nowDMPE) and SSI with their supercharger programs in the early-mid 90's while with CT Racing. Everything from rotor design, case design, injector styles, lots of speed secrets that even made their way up to the top fuel ranks.
Intake manifold fuel spray bars to cool the intake manifold air charge on a supercharged engine. He'd chuckle a bit when the guys finally came out with spray bars in injector hats. "Oh hell that's 25 year old technology" he'd say.
He was one of, if not the first to do a Co2 assisted push for nitrous cars in the pro mod days.
We still have what we call the "spaghetti switches" setup which was a very involved mechanical Co2 fuel system and transmission management setup he designed. It was mechanical timers, switches, latches, etc that today we just use a solenoid valve and a ECU to operate.
He designed and modified a fully internal Co2 operated valve body. Of all manufactured valve bodies we know of it is still the fastest transbrake and shifted valve body there is.
Finally, in the early 80's, he was the mastermind behind the spragless part of the race converter design still used today. He corroborated with Bob Maise (original owner of Trans Specialties) the idea and plan to incorporate the spragless design for drag racing applications. That original converter made its way back to him about 5 years ago and is still going strong.
He was of brilliant mind well ahead of his time. He put the best he had into all he did. "All that is worth the trouble of doing deserves to be done well."
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Micetich, mother, Lois Micetich, siblings: Kathy Vaughn (Gene), Brenda Brooks (Terry), Tim Micetich (Laurie), Holly Miller, Bruce Micetich (Chris), Stephanie Grim (Mike) and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Micetich.
Britt was cremated and a celebration of his life will be later on next spring/summer.
