Bonnie Jean McDanel's Obituary
Bonnie Jean McDanel, age 83 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Bonnie was born on January 3, 1938 in Centerville, Iowa, the only child of Jonathan "Tabby" Yonavich and Mildred Jean (Thomas) Yonavich. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1956. On October 21, 1956, Bonnie was united in marriage to Leon Glick McDanel, and to this union, three children were born, Stuart, Jeff and Glenda.
Bonnie had a love for the family farm, gardening, traveling and crafts. She was always a host, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was also fond of going gambling with her loved ones. Bonnie enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, especially wedding cakes for her family and friends. Life was never too big for her, and she showed it daily with the bright colors that she wore and her charismatic persona. Bonnie was a devout Catholic throughout her lifetime at St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville. She was also a member of the 18-80 club, and the MercyOne Hospital Auxiliary.
Left to cherish Bonnies memory are her daughter in law, Jean McDanel of Moravia and her son, Jeff McDanel of Moravia; grandchildren, Chad (Deanna) McDanel and their children, Malia and Blakely, Shawn (Jennifer) McDanel and their children, Logan and Keira, Kyle Baughman and his daughter, Berkley Baughman, Bailey Baughman, JD McDanel, Halley Kirkpatrick and Katey Kirkpatrick; and her sister-in-law, Boneita (Estel) Gay.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan and Mildred Yonavich; her husband, Leon McDanel; her daughter, Glenda Baughman; and her son, Stuart McDanel on January 19, 2022.
Private graveside services have been held. A Celebration of Christian Burial service will be held at 12PM, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation will take place Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 10-12PM. Memorials have been established to St. Marys Catholic Church, Centerville, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, ATTN: McDanel family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
