Bonnie Ruth Main's Obituary
Bonnie Ruth Main, age 85, of Moravia, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Bonnie was born on September 4, 1935 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Doris and Ruth (Evans) Fenton. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1952. On March 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marion R. Main at the Centerville Church of the Nazarene.
In her younger years, Bonnie held different jobs, including waitressing and working at Chamberlains. She was a member of the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, and looked forward to going to church weekly. She enjoyed canning, gardening, and her flowers. Most importantly, Bonnie cherished her family, raising six children, and loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish Bonnies memory are her husband, Marion Main of Moravia; four children, Pat (Linda) Main of Udall, Kansas, Sherry Alvord of Augusta, Kansas, Larry (Cheryl) Main of Moravia, Iowa, and Sally (David) Cassat of Eldon, Iowa; two brothers, Jerry (Linda) Fenton of Burlington, Iowa, and Gary (Janice) Fenton of Burlington, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Doris Fenton; her mother, Ruth Stigge; two children, Michael Ray Main and Benny Joe Main; a sister, Marjorie McVey; a brother, Verle Fenton; and a son-in-law, Michael E. Alvord.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Salem Cemetery, near Iconium. Immediately following the cemetery, the public is invited to a luncheon/fellowship gathering at the Moravia Community Building. Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with the family greeting friends from 5-7 PM. Memorials have been established to Marion Main, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Main family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
