Bobby Lee Dodson's Obituary
Bobby Lee Dodson, age 89, of Corydon, Iowa passed away on March 21, 2025 at Corydon Specialty Care.
Bob was born on December 30, 1935 to Hobert and Jean (Pauley) Dodson, in Northeast Mercer County, Missouri. He attended schools in Mercer County alongside Wilda June Scott whom he married in 1955, and they shared 56 loving years together before her passing in 2012. After High school graduation in 1953 Bobby worked in Kansas City for a time before he was drafted to the United States Army where he was stationed for some time in Ft. Hood, Texas and later in Germany. After an injury he was the Safety Officer of the "Little Camp Perry" Rifle Team. After his time in the Army, and being honorably discharged, he returned to Kansas City to Wilda and Kevin.
Bob worked at Porter Cable in Kansas City prior to moving to Corydon, Iowa after purchasing the Blacksmith shop from his great uncle Ott Dodson. Bob and Wilda purchased the family farm west of Corydon in 1961 where they welcomed Kristi and Kent and he remained there until his failing health caused him to move to the nursing home.
Farming was a way of life for Bob, he liked working on his farm, feeding his cows, and driving his John Deere tractors, gator and Ford pickups. He owned and operated his own welding and repair shop.
He enjoyed eating watermelon and ice cream of any kind. Bob loved teasing everyone, every chance he could. He was a firm believer that all kids need to have candy, ice cream, and puppies. The grandchildren and great grandchildren loved learning life lessons from him.
Bob is survived by children Kevin (Brenda) Dodson, Kristi Dodson, and Kent (Joan) Dodson; grandchildren Rachel (Josh), Brittany (Shawn), Kara (Nick), Jared (Kari), Nolan (Sarah); great grandkids Hinley, Eperlie, Corver, Stayer, Vaysee, McKenna, Remington, Aivley, Colter, Ryenne, River, Bently, Blaize, Bexley, Baylor, his sister Betty Maring and nephews Mark and Matt Maring; sister-in-law Beverly Dodson and niece Stacie Sharp (Larry) and family; nephew Howard "Bub" Chipps, and nieces Marilyn Hayes and Myra Ceplina (Joe) and an unknown number of those who called him "Grandpa Bob" along with extended family and friends.
