Bob Smith's Obituary
Bob Smith, 89, of Promise City passed away, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Centerville Specialty Care. Bob was born to Grover & Zelma (Young) Smith on March 21, 1926 in Promise City. He received his education from Promise City High School, graduating in 1944. Bob was a farmer for many years; later in life he drove a rock truck and then became employed at L&W Quarries driving an end loader for 27 years before retiring in 1992. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed sitting on his front porch and watching traffic pass by his house. He also enjoyed making custom Christmas lights for his home. He was always proud of the way his house looked during the holiday season. Bob was known by his family as being a homebody. He enjoyed his work at the quarry and running the loader, but truly enjoyed coming home at the end of the day. Survivors include, two sons: Jerry Smith (Susan Fitzgerald) of Moulton, Dave Smith of Moulton, four grandchildren: Jerry Smith of Sturgis, Chad Smith of Sturgis, Jacob Smith (Brittney) of Moulton, Angie Lobberecht (Jason) of Eddyville, great grandchildren: Porter, Lexis, Aubrye, Collin and Megan, and a sister, Verda Dougherty of Leon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Smith, parents, wife, Betty Smith, grandson, James Smith and brother, Bill Smith. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Crossroads Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday.
