Bob Murdy's Obituary
Robert Max Murdy, age 93, of Moline, Illinois and a former Moulton area resident, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Amber Ridge Memory Care in Moline. He was born the son of Theodore and Ruth (Hedgecock) Murdy on July 10, 1920 in Moulton, Iowa. He graduated from the Moulton High School. In July of 1942, Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Evelyn Draper in Lancaster, Missouri. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Bob worked many years with the Millwright and Machine Erectors Union Local #1607 and Plummers and Pipe Fitters Union as a millwright all over the United States. He liked to drive truck, do carpentry work and dabble in farming. He was a member of the Methodist Church, he was a Mason, a Shriner, Eastern Star member, a member of the American Legion and was a long time volunteer for the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Patricia Murdy on April 17, 1995; and brothers, Raymond and Rex Murdy Bob is survived by: his son, Richard Murdy and his wife, Suree of Bedford, Indiana; daughters, Dorothy Spriet of Moline, Illinois and Ruth Sanders and her husband, Russell of Milan, Illinois; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 8 am until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday.
