Billy Joe VanPelt's Obituary
Billy Joe VanPelt, age 68 of Urbandale, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 02, 2012 at the Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Billy (Bill) Joe Van Pelt was born February 6,1944 to Clarence & Leta Van Pelt. He was called home June 2, 2012.
Bill graduated from Urbandale High School in 1962. Bill always had a love for Rock N Roll Music & upon graduating followed his dreams & aspirations. He played in several bands throughout the country, entertaining crowds with his talent & charisma. He was later inducted into the Iowa Rock N Roll Hall of Fame on 2000 with the group known as Dominic & The Dominos.
When he returned to his hometown of Urbandale in the early 70's he became active with the Urbandale fire department & was instrumental in the founding of County Paramedic which provided services to the suburbs of Des Moines.
Bill and his wife have operated VP Accounting for the past 26 years.
He was an avid Iowa State & Nascar fan. Anyone that met Bill became a friend and they always knew he had a gift to entertain and could make people smile. He loved laughed & accepted all without judgment.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, sister-in-law Mrs. Ron Van Pelt of Aaronsburg, PA., brother, Doug (Evelyn) Van Pelt of Earlham, many cousins, nieces &nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents,and brother, Ronald.
A special thanks to Jim (Joy) Goins, Jim(Barb) Guthrie and Bill Youngquist for all the support they have provided & Iowa Health Care and Taylor House for keeping Bill comfortable during his last few days.
Celebration fo life will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the United Church of Christ in Urbandale at 4:00. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are being handled by the Lange Funeral Home of Centerville, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Home Care or the family.
