Billy Ragan's Obituary
Billy (Bill) Ragan, age 66, of Moravia, Iowa died Thursday June 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville He was born September 18, 1943 at Centerville the son of Cleo Ragan and Opal Teller Ragan. He graduated from Moravia High School in 1963 and was united in marriage to Marlys Fenton September 1, 1968 at the Unionville Methodist Church, Unionville, Iowa.
Billy retired after 32.5 years working for Appanoose County and farmed 130 acres and took care of his 50 head of cattle his entire life. Before working for Appanoose County he worked for Mott Construction for 15 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Antiquity Masonic Lodge #252, Moravia, Iowa.
He loved going to Auctions and never missed the Thursday sales at the Centerville Sale Barn. He was an avid gun collector, loved western shows, the Rathbun Country Music Theatre. He enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair, coffee at Angel's in the morning and visiting at Steve Mihalovich's. At home he loved napping in his chair with his dog Mel, he loved rocks and going to Lines and Tines in Drakesville with Dan Brooks on Wednesday's for fun.
He is survived by his wife Marlys of Moravia, and uncle Blair Ragan of Albia, Iowa, many cousins, nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws-, sister-in-laws, a host of friends and his dog, Mel. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Shirley White. A Funeral service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Lange Funeral Home, Moravia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Friends may call Monday Noon until 8PM with the family present at the funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for either the Fall Festival or the Moravia 1st Responders. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com.
