Bill Withrow's Obituary
William 'Bill' Withrow, 89 of Centerville passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Bill was born on March 18, 1929 in Moulton, Iowa to Clarence & Gertie (Henderson) Withrow. Bill received his education from Centerville High School, graduating in 1946. After graduation, Bill served in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He was stationed in Georgia and also spent time in Korea. Bill was a self-employed auto body repairman before becoming a long time truck driver. He drove for several companies before retiring from Ruan Transportation. Bill was a member of the Moulton American Legion. He enjoyed playing music with friends, going to coffee shops, flying his airplane and riding his motorcycle. Survivors include his children: Carman Withrow, Bud Withrow (Sally), Brad Withrow (Candi), Carol Varese (Randy), nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his life companion, Rose Heminger and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by two siblings: Marvel Perkins and Junior Withrow, along with his parents. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, January 18, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will be in Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 5-7 pm. Memorials may be given to the VA Central Iowa Health Care System and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
