Bill Gibbs' Obituary
William "Bill" Wayne Gibbs, son of Clarence and Wilda (Walmer) Gibbs was born on January 16, 1930 at their home north east of Millerton. Bill passed away on September 22, 2020 at his apartment in the care of his favorite nurse, Ang and Hospice surrounded by his family. Bill lived his entire life in Wayne County. He attended country schools and graduated from Millerton High School. He married Nina Blocher on May 10, 1950. To this union, five children were born: Vickie, Debra, Kendall, Randy and Robert. Bill farmed his whole working life in Wayne County. After he retired he moved to the Senior Housing. He enjoyed all sports but especially enjoyed watching his kids, grandkids and great grandkids in whatever sport they were playing. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Seymour Barber Shop for many years and in later years at the Senior Meal Site which he truly enjoyed. Survivors include his children: Vickie (Steve) Fortune, Debbie (Bruce) Jondle, Randy (Carla) Gibbs and Rob Gibbs; grandchildren: Brad (Stacey) Fortune, Greg (Heather) Fortune, Ang Fortune, Jeromy Jondle, Justin (Diana) Jondle, Garrett Gibbs, Austin Gibbs, and Kelsey Gibbs; great grandchildren: Miranda, Anika and Will Fortune, Breanna, Haylee and Allie Jo Fortune, Makayla and Jayce Wyatt, Jamey, Samantha, and Christian Jondle and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Loy Gibbs, Kathleen (Russell) Dotts, Ellis (Joy) Gibbs, Floyd (Marilyn) Gibbs and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nina; infant son, Kendall Gibbs; parents: Clarence and Wilda Gibbs; in laws, John and Mary Blocher; brother, Dean Gibbs; brother and sister in law, Jerry and Edith Sinclair and brother in law, Don Reuter. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Brian Shelley officiating. Interment will follow at New York Cemetery. There will be a visitation held on Thursday, September 24 from 5-7 pm at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon and also on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 10-11 am. The family prefers that attendants wear masks.
