Beverly Peckham's Obituary
Beverly Joyce Peckham, born the daughter of Charles and Nadine Gardner, was a lifetime resident of Centerville, Iowa, only recently spending the last few months of her life with her daughter. She was born in Centerville on October 6, 1932. She was united in marriage to Cloyd Duane "Tom" Peckham on January 27, 1951, a marriage of 64 years. To this union there were born four children; Dennis Peckham "wife, Pat" of Ottumwa, Iowa, David Peckham "wife Joy" of Carlisle, Ohio, Debbie Kleinschmidt "husband Mike" of Ionia, Iowa and Jamie Tracy "husband Bruce" of Centerville, Iowa. There are seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, one of which preceded her in death, and fourteen great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren, one of which preceded her in death. Beverly is also leaving behind her five surviving siblings; Richard Gardner, Phyllis Thomas, Rosalee Inman, Leroy "Butch" Gardner & James Gardner. She will be remembered by her siblings and the families of the Peek's, Dudley's and the Kauzlarich's, along with their extended families. Beverly will also be missed by her many family and friends not mentioned here. Beverly was saved by the Grace of God on September 4, 1949. Being troubled, the Spirit of God revealed to her the way of salvation and she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She is now at home with our Lord, enjoying the immediate presence of Jesus Christ and awaiting the time when the Lord shall come to re-unite her and her loved ones who are in Christ. Her interests throughout the years included loving God, serving her church, gardening, being a quality seamstress, canning, good cooking, raising her dogs, horseback riding and farming with her husband, Tom. During the earlier parts of her marriage, she and her husband, loved square dancing, all the while devoting time and energy caring for her family members. Her son Dennis, inherited his mother's integrity and hard work ethics. He gives great hugs. Her son David, inherited his mother's love of cooking and baking of which he enjoys serving his family and friends. Her daughters, Debbie and Jamie inherited their mother's love of horses. Both Debbie and Jamie were expert horse-back-riders. Beverly passed her experience of raising dogs onto her daughter, Jamie, who inherited her mother's expertise of properly caring for dogs and has a quality dog kennel. Beverly's greatest wish towards the end of her life was her desire that "ALL" of her FAMILY and FRIENDS would accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, forever being united with Christ in eternity and heaven. One of her last requests, "If you want to see her again having been made perfect by the blood of Christ, please come now to the foot of the cross. Accept Jesus Christ as your savior, assuring eternal life in heaven." She always appreciated giving her best to the people that she loved most, never expecting anything in return, but it overjoyed her when these gifts came home. Beverly also left behind her beloved little dog, Abby, and by the hour they would sit in her overstuffed chair cuddling each other. As Billy Graham says, "If my Father in Heaven wants me to be as happy as possible, He will let me have my dog, Buddy and if so, it will be for Beverly too.
