Betty Zaputil's Obituary
Betty Zaputil, 89, of Centerville, passed away on December 19, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville surrounded by family and friends. Betty was born on February 3, 1926 to Gabriel and Lucy (Velk) Fister in Centerville, Iowa. She lived around Appanoose County in Rathbun, Mystic and her beloved Forebush, where she spent most of her childhood and later raised her family. Betty graduated from Centerville High School in 1943. She married George Zaputil May 3, 1947. Together they had three children. Betty and George owned and operated Mystic Block Company. She also worked for JC Penny for over 40 years. Betty enjoyed putting puzzles together, babysitting her grandkids and helping George on the farm. She spent time at the Casino - Terribles. Betty was known for cooking lunch for her family every Sunday. Betty is survived by her husband, George, three children; Linda Brown of San Tan Valley, AZ, David (Marcia) Zaputil of Moravia and Cindy (Thomas) Cipolli of West Burlington, IA, six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, brother, James Fister and son-in-law, David Brown. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Hubmann officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:30 PM. Memorials may be given to CHI Hospice.
