Betty Talbot's Obituary
Betty Talbot, 83, of Centerville, passed away on November 21, 2020 at Homestead. Betty was born in Centerville on July 17, 1937 to Albert and Honora (Woolsey) Wood. After graduating from Centerville High School in 1955, she began her lifelong career at Iowa Southern Utilities until retiring after 40 years. On October 25, 1974, Betty married Larry Talbot. Betty had many hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed golfing (Pinnacle golf balls were the best!), collecting Hallmark ornaments and Precious Moments figurines, traveling (especially to Texas every year), playing cards and Bingo at Homestead with her friends and spending time with her family. She loved attending her grandkids' sporting events and extracurricular activities. Betty was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and St. Louis Cardinals fan and was known to make the best peanut butter fudge. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and a longtime member of the country club. Betty is survived by her stepchildren: Scott (Tina) Talbot and Tammy (Bill) Snyder, grandchildren: Kegan Talbot, Alix Talbot, Rylee Eakins, Craig Snyder and Kaylee Snyder; two great grandchildren; sisters: Beverly Fike and Donna Beaty as well as six nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry and her brother-in-law, Jimmie Beaty. A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 with interment following at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. The family will not be present due to Covid-19.
