Betty Lou Peterson's Obituary
Betty Lou (DeVore) Peterson was born January 13, 1932. She passed on December 21, 2021 at age 89. She was the 8th of 9 siblings, the children of Charley O. and Stella M. (Mosbey) DeVore.
Betty attended country school in Wayne County, then in Promise City. After her family moved to Appanoose County, she graduated from Seymour Community High School in 1951.
Betty and Rex were married December 21, 1952. They lived on the same farm from 1952 until September 2019 when they moved to Centerville. Their farm was sold in February 2020.
Betty worked on the farm, helped with the livestock, and various other chores. She was a wonderful cook and had a large garden for many years. She enjoyed having flowers in the garden and around the yard that she mowed with a push mower for many years. She crocheted Afghans and gifted many to family and friends. She liked sewing, quilting, cakewalks, reunions, and family activities such as fishing and mushroom hunting.
Survivors include Rex, her husband of 69 years; their daughters Barb and Bonnie of Centerville; and their son, Ronald and daughter-in-law Sherri of Albia; grandchildren Myka (Joe) Forrest, Dana (Chris) Black, and Aaron Peterson; and 4 great-grandchildren Lydia, Bethany, Gwen, and Sterling. She is also survived by in-laws Patricia, Carlene, and Rayetta and Rexs siblings and in-laws, Marilyn and Richard Gorden, Norma and Roger Wells, Max and Sandy Peterson, and Deloris Jones, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by all her siblings: Robert, Carrie, Virginia, Ivan, Bernard, Dale, Maurice, and Dorthy.
Per Bettys wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Visitation honoring Bettys life will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 2-4PM.
