Betty Jean Pauletti's Obituary
Betty Jean Pauletti, age 74, of Centerville, died April 10, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born August 26, 1932 in Cincinnati, Iowa to Orville (Oatey) and Ruby (Davis) Walker. She graduated valedictorian from Cincinnati High School in 1949 at the age of 16.
After graduation, she worked as a legal secretary in Rock Island, IL for 4 years. When she returned to Centerville, she worked for KCOG radio. In 1954, she began working for the Appanoose County Extensions Service office assistant. In June of 1955, Betty married Guido Pauletti at St. Williams Catholic Church in Numa, Iowa. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2005.
Betty worked for the Extension Service for 36 years, retiring March 30, 1990. In 1975, she was honored with the dedication of the Appanoose County Fair, due to her hard work and involvement with the fair and throughout the year helping in the 4-H program. Besides her work, Betty was active in Beta Sigma Phi, she received the highest honor of the organization, the Golden Circle in 2005. Betty served on the Pancake Day Queen committee for several years, along with being an avid bowler and golfer. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, traveling and reading.
Betty is survived by her husband, Guido of Centerville, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with Pastor Dianne Christopher officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. A visitation will be held Friday night at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial was established to the Mercy Hospice of Centerville or the Continental at St. Joseph's Memory Care and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.
