Betty Jean Holman's Obituary
Betty Jean Holman, 86 of Centerville, Iowa died on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on May 11, 1925 in Moulton, Iowa the daughter of William W. and Helen M. (Carmichael) Holman. She moved to Centerville, Iowa with her family in 1940, and later graduated from the Centerville High School in 1942.After graduation, Betty worked at the Pure Ice Company, then worked for a time at Iowa Southern Utilities and later, worked for Charles Johnson with his law firm and finally retiring from the Milani Law Offices all in Centerville. Shortly after her retirement, she would become the Children's Librarian at the Drake Public Library in Centerville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. She was preceded in death by: her parents; and her brother, Rex Holman in 2003.Betty is survived by: her nephews, Tim Holman and his wife, Meredith Sewell of Iowa City, Iowa and Tom Holman of Ozark, Missouri; great nephews, Andy and his wife, Patricia Holman, Tony Holman and T.J. Holman all of Springfield, Missouri.A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 10 am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Dennis Schaab, CPPS, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 from 2 pm until 6 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 4 pm until 6 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church and left at or mailed to the funeral home.
