Betty Jean Fisher's Obituary
Betty Jean Fisher, age 72, of Seymour, Iowa, died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Raymond Charles and Vivian Ruth (Little) Stoneking on June 28, 1935 in Memphis, Missouri. She attended Keokuk Community Schools in Keokuk, Iowa.On March 11, 1960, Betty was united in marriage to Harry L. Fisher in Fort Madison, Iowa. They lived in Keokuk, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Des Moines, Iowa before settling in Seymour, Iowa in 1995. Betty enjoyed being a housewife, and mother, but also extended herself into the work field where she enjoyed her years working for McDonald's and Git & Go. She was a lifetime member of the PTA; member of the United Methodist Church in Seymour; the UMW and was treasurer of the Horizons Club also in Seymour. She loved spending time with the people at the Senior Center, playing cards and having meals.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband of 47 years, Harry L. Fisher on May 16, 2007; sister, Rose Marie Bowen; and a brother, Jimmy Stoneking.Betty is survived by: her daughters, Jacki Flinn of Seymour, Iowa, Lori Riley of Iowa City, Iowa and Linda Whitacre and her husband, Brian of Runnells, Iowa; grandchildren, Shelly Haley of Milford, Iowa, Eric Flinn of Churdan, Iowa, Angie Drees of Carroll, Iowa, Brandon Whitacre of Ames, Iowa, Leslie Dally of Stratford, Iowa, Kari Van Hoever of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Megan Riley of Baltimore, Maryland, Nicole Van Hoever of Des Moines, Iowa, and Alyse Riley and Ben Riley both of Iowa City, Iowa; as well as, eleven great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Linda Reida officiating. Burial will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, Iowa.
