Betty Beatty's Obituary
Betty Louise (Adair) (Morgan) Beatty, 94, passed away at Corydon Specialty Care on May 10, 2025 and entered into her Heavenly Home.
Betty was born on May 4, 1931 in Woodland, Iowa to Marlow and Hazel (Braby) Adair. Betty joined siblings Max, Madeline, Mary and Darrell and later welcomed siblings Earnest, Janet, Carmon, Kay and John. Betty spent her early years attending school in Woodland until the family moved to Garden Grove when she was 10 years old. Betty learned to work hard early in life helping with the gardening, house work, and tending to her younger siblings.
Betty married the love of her life, Bill Morgan, on August 7, 1948. To this union, four children were born; Jerry, Bob, Eddie and Sandra. Telling others about Bill and their lives together always brought a big smile to Betty's face. She almost always ended those conversations by saying, "Bill was the most handsome and most wonderful man she ever met!" She loved him dearly! After being widowed in 1977, Betty met Bob Beatty several years later and was married to Bob from December of 1989 until the time of his death in 2002. Betty enjoyed traveling with Bob and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Betty kept busy raising her children and spending time with them and her grandchildren. They meant the world to her. Betty and Bill always raised a huge garden and Betty canned hundreds of jars of produce. Betty was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family. Often times when her children returned home off of the school bus, they were met with freshly baked cookies and the house smelling of a freshly picked bouquet of lilacs on the kitchen table.
Betty worked in the kitchen at the Garden Grove school as well as doing wallpapering for various families in the Garden Grove area alongside her sister, Madeline. Betty also worked as a cook in various restaurants in Corydon as well as working in the housekeeping department at the Wayne County Hospital and Dr. Dubay's clinic. Betty enjoyed serving as an assistant Bible school teacher at the Corydon Bible Church for many years as well as an assistant Girl Scout leader.
Betty loved to laugh and spend time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma and friend. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Morgan and Bob Beatty; two sons, Jerry Morgan and Ed Morgan; her parents, mother and father-in-law, step sons Clayton Beatty and Gene Beatty; step grandson Dennis Craig; siblings, Max Adair, Madeline Spidle, Mary Keller, and Darrell Adair, as well as many relatives and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Danny) Allred of Corydon and son Bob Morgan of Lamoni; daughter in law Donna Morgan, Corydon.
